Considering I am not a fan of flying, I had quite a trip ahead of me today. First to Isanbul. I had one of the lasts seats and the purser was having a chat with a passenger about the Malaysian disappeared airplane. Suicide according to him. Suicide? Yes, according to him this does occur once in a while - pilots that commit suicid eby flying a plane into catastrophe. Very reassuring that sounded. The trip from Istanbul to Gaziantep was quite bumpy but the captain reassured us by saying that 'these planes'are built to cope with this. Pffff - what a start. I arrived in time at the cute airport of Gaziantep where Martina was waiting me up, she coordinates the whole thing and is from SPARK the Dutch NGO that organizes the Winter University. She is from Tschecosolovakia and fluent in Arabic. Which doesnt''t help here in Turkey, but will be very helpful with the Syrian students. We were stopped by the police on our way to the hotel and I felt like in Colombia again: soldiers everwhere. There is heavy control of Syrian refugees who keep coming here. Tomorrow I hope to send some pictures of Gaziantep, which seems to be a very beautiful and old city. Tomorrow more news!
